Wet weather gear

Sat, Jun 23 2012
Wet weather supper! We really could do with some warm weather, couldn't we? But there is nothing much better than food to keep us feeling a bit chipper whilst stuck indoors. And to be able to do a bit of scratch cooking helps it all along, too! Tonight sees us the hosts to 2 of Harley's friends and I like to be able to keep my guests happy whether they are 9 or 79! Bread making is one of my favourite

Cupcake wars!

Sat, Jun 2 2012
I have long since been making a cake in a muffin tin but not calling it a cupcake. The term has exploded in to people's consciousness and become big business in more ways than just making them. Aside from that, it has also been a bugbear of mine though, when people call an individual cake a muffin. Here we have 2 completely different animals one made with a different method to the other, producing

children and food

Sun, Feb 13 2011
It makes me feel quite ratty when I hear people saying that good food is wasted on children. I was watching a programme not so long ago and the person cooking - I sadly cannot recall who - gave their opinion that children don't appreciate good ingredients and what they were making should be saved for adult consumption only. This evening I cooked some fish which was most certainly not my best attempt

It's like Macdonalds saying they are a restaurant when they are clearly not!I

children's choice

Sun, Sep 27 2009

I find it astonishing that many bemoan the fact that their children wont eat things or do not like things and then consequently they feed them rubbish food stuffs. I get fed up with people saying that food is wasted on children. Why is it wasted? Food education is surely like learning behaviour patterns. They learn by example. Children

wet wet wet

Mon, Jul 27 2009
I have had probably the wettest week of my life! Every single item of my clothing was covered in mud. Thank goodness I took my wellies. I have been working at Tatton flower show for a week with my usual - and most favourite - employer. And it hs rained...........alot! Sadly, we were staying in the most rubbish of hotels which kept the most atrocious house keeping I have come across. The food was pretty

eating with children

Thu, May 7 2009
I had a great week last week. And whilst I was away from my beautiful family, my work was rewarding, invigorating and at times emotional. I have been privileged to work with a major supermarket for the last 6 years and last week went away with them to a school and taught about 500 children about healthy eating and how to cook. I wrote 12 recipes using seasonal vegetables for use at these unique
